Alibaba Cloud won the National Technology Invention Award
On the morning of January 10, the National Science and Technology Awards Conference was grandly held in the Great Hall of the People. Alibaba Cloud has won two national awards, the National Technology Invention Award and the National Science and Technology Progress Award. The award-winning technology is derived from a decade of technology strategic investment and has served hundreds of millions of people. This is the first time that an Internet company has won two national science and technology awards, and it has also achieved a zero breakthrough for the Internet company in the National Technology Invention Award. This means that Alibaba's technology strategy with a ten-year cycle has entered the harvest period, and it also indicates that private enterprises have begun to become a new "engine" for building an innovative country.
The National Science and Technology Award is established by the State Council and is the highest level of science and technology awards in China. Past winners include well-known scientists such as Yuan Longping and Tu Yan, as well as scientists and teams of national strategic projects such as manned spaceflight, the Three Gorges Project, and the Qinghai-Tibet Railway.
This time, Alibaba Cloud and Shanghai Jiaotong University jointly launched the "Key Technologies and Systems for Cloud Computing Facing Sudden Peak Services", which won the second prize of National Technology Invention. Abrupt peaks are common in large-scale scenarios such as "Spring Festival ticket grabbing", "Spike" and "Spring Festival Gala", "Double 11", "New Year's Eve", which are typical technical problems facing the global technology industry.
Through more than ten years of strategic technology investment, Alibaba Cloud has successfully solved these problems and provided technical services at multiple large-scale events. In 2019, the Double 11 core system was 100% on the cloud, and the peak order creation reached 544,000 transactions per second, which is 1360 times the first Double 11 in 2009 and more than 8 times the peak processing volume of Visa, the king of international retail payment networks. Smoothly and orderly set a new record for human technology.
In addition, Alibaba Cloud and Tsinghua University jointly developed the key technology and application of the coding camera, which won the National Science and Technology Progress Award. This technology solves the challenges of traditional imaging in the aspects of "full-depth scenes with full clarity, accurate depth perception of complex scenes, and efficient representation and reconstruction of sensor data" in both software and hardware.
